Microsoft has denied reports that the company has sold a million units of its Zune music player.
The president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices division, Robbie Bach, was quoted as saying: 'we've sold a little over a million Zunes,' during an interview with the San Francisco newspaper, SFGate. In fact, Microsoft says Bach was misquoted, and the company is in fact 'on track to sell one million devices before the end of the fiscal year (June 30)'. This correction comes on the Microsoft blog ZuneInsider.com. Cesar Menendez, a Microsoft employee working on the Zune player says the company has not made any official announcements on our sales numbers. However, 'we've achieved our goal of being the number two player in the hard-drive category,' he writes. For the record, his blog also provides a link to the full audio version of the interview. The one million figure would give Microsoft around a 10% share in the US market for hard disk music players. |
